Here is a rough timeline of events. I will update and add more as I am able to confirm information.
August 14th, 2019 – Drew’s pins were removed post-ulnarization in Florida
May 1st, 2019 – Drew has his 12th surgery with Dr. Paley to correct the position of his wrist in preparation for arm lengthening.
October 11th 2017 – Drew has his 11th leg surgery with Dr. Paley.
July 17th, 2017 – Drew sees Dr. Paley for another follow-up in Florida.
February 3rd, 2017 – Drew graduates Believe Therapy‘s intensive suit program.
December 11th, 2016 – Mom and Drew fly to Florida for a routine follow-up with Dr. Paley.
July 25th, 2016 – Drew has surgery to remove the rods in each leg.
May 31st, 2016 – Drew has his 9th surgery with Dr. Paley on the right leg.
May 17th, 2016 – Drew has his 8th surgery with Dr. Paley on his left leg to shorten the femur, remove 8-plate, and place a rod to straighten his leg which his lost extension.
May 14th, 2016 – We temporarily relocate to Southern Florida in preparation for surgery.
March 1st, 2016 – Drew has surgery on his right hand to give him a new thumb.
January 18th, 2016 – Drew has a port surgically placed in preparation for leg surgeries in Florida.
January 11th, 2016 – 7th Miracle Flight to Florida for a follow-up visit with Dr. Paley.
August 10, 2015 – Met Dr. Cornwall at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital to discuss options for Drew’s thumbs/arms.
July 26, 2015 – 6th Miracle Flight to Florida for a follow-up visit with Dr. Paley
February 9, 2015 – 5th Miracle Flight to Florida for a follow-up visit with Dr. Paley
January 25, 2015 – Drew takes his first steps again!
October 6th – 4th Miracle Flight to Florida for a follow-up visit with Dr. Paley.
August 28th, 2014 – Cast removed.
July 15th, 2014 – 7th leg surgery with Dr. Paley (3rd Miracle Flight)
June 10th, 2014 – Tonsillectomy at Vanderbilt
April 7th, 2014 – Second follow-up visit with Dr. Paley (2nd Miracle Flight)
October 7th, 2013 – First follow-up visit with Dr. Paley (1st Miracle Flight)
September 20th, 2013 – Drew takes his first steps unassisted by any walking aides.
July 25th, 2013 – Drew has his second open heart surgery.
July 11th, 2013 – The Gattens return to Kentucky permanently.
July 3rd, 2013 – Drew is fitted for a new brace on his left side.
July 1st, 2013 – Drew’s cast is removed.
June 1st, 2013 – Drew’s left fixator is removed via surgery #6 and a cast is placed.
May 25th, 2013 – The Gattens return to West Palm Beach in preparation for the removal of the fixator.
February 28th, 2013 – The Gattens return to Kentucky during Drew’s healing period.
February 25th, 2013 – Drew has his 5th surgery to remove the pins from his fractured femur as well as a proximal wire from his fixator leg.
January 28th 2013 – Drew’s cast on his right leg is removed due to possible infection. All is good.
January 4th, 2013 – Drew stands unsupported maintaining his balance for the first time for 10 seconds. An hour later, Drew’s right femur is fractured during routine stretches during physical therapy requiring immediate surgery to repair. He is placed in a cast for 4-6 weeks.
November 13th, 2012 – Drew has surgery to place an external fixator on his left leg to begin the correction process.
October 13th, 2012 – Drew is fitted for a brace on his right leg to retain correction.
October 2012 – Drew’s cast on his right leg is removed and adapted for a removable cast in order to cast mold for customized brace.
September 27th, 2012 – Drew has surgery to remove the external fixator from his right leg.
September 19th, 2012 – The Gattens return to Florida in preperation for the round of surgeries on Drew’s left leg to begin the correction process.
July 19th, 2012 – The Gattens return to Kentucky while Drew’s right leg heals from the correction process. The fixator remains on.
May 1st, 2012 – Drew has surgery to place an external fixator on his right leg to begin the correction process.
April 2012 – The Gattens arrive in West Palm Beach, Florida in preperation for the first round of surgeries on Drew’s right leg to begin the correction process.
January 27th, 2009 – Drew has open heart surgery in Nashville, TN to repair a hole, narrowing of his aorta, and a “leaky” aortic valve.
February 6th, 2008 – Drew is born.
